Why Can't I See Futures When Creating An Auto Trader?
If you’re unable to see futures options as a trading option in Options Auto Trader, it could be because of your broker setup. Currently, TastyTrade is the only broker supported by our platform that allows futures options trading. This article explains why this limitation exists and how to enable futures options if you’re using TastyTrade.
Step 1: Verify Your Broker
To trade futures options on Options Auto Trader, you must be connected to a TastyTrade broker account. Other brokers, such as Tradier, TradeStation, and Charles Schwab, do not support futures options trading on our platform at this time.
How to Check Your Connected Broker:
- Log into your Options Auto Trader account.
- Click on your profile image in the top-right corner.
- Select Connect My Broker from the dropdown menu.
- Verify which broker is currently connected to your account.
If you are not connected to a TastyTrade account, you will not see futures options as a trading option.
Step 2: Use TastyTrade for Futures Options
If you want to trade futures options, you’ll need to use a TastyTrade broker account. Here’s how to set it up:

- Open a TastyTrade account by visiting their website.
During the account setup, select "The Works" margin account to ensure full functionality.
Once your account is approved, enable futures options trading in your TastyTrade account settings:
- Log into your TastyTrade account.
- Navigate to Account Settings.
- Request permission for futures options trading (if not already enabled).
- Connect your TastyTrade account to Options Auto Trader:
- Go to the Connect My Broker page in your Options Auto Trader account.
- Click Create Connection next to TastyTrade.
- Follow the prompts to log in and authorize the connection.
Step 3: Verify Futures Options Are Enabled
Once your TastyTrade account is connected, verify that futures options trading is enabled in your account:
- Navigate to the Auto Trader page.
- Attempt to create a new bot using futures options.
- If futures options still don’t appear as an option, double-check your TastyTrade account settings or contact TastyTrade support to ensure futures options permissions are active.
