Ensuring your broker is properly connected to the Options Auto Trader is essential for seamless trading. This guide will walk you through the steps to verify and reconnect your broker if necessary.
Look at the upper left-hand corner of the Options Auto Trader interface.
Locate the drop-down menu that displays your connected broker accounts.
If your broker is listed, it is connected. If it is not listed, it is not connected.
Click on your profile image in the top right-hand corner.
Select "Connect Your Broker" from the menu.
Choose the broker you want to connect and follow the on-screen instructions.
Click on "Dashboard" in the main menu.
Observe the dashboard page:
If the page loads normally with no errors or alerts, your broker is actively connected.
If you see a red banner with a warning message, the system was unable to refresh the connection.
If a red banner appears on the dashboard, follow these steps:
Click on your profile image in the top right-hand corner.
Select "Connect Your Broker".
Reconnect the broker by following the on-screen steps.
Once reconnected, return to the dashboard to verify the connection status.
Brokers typically stay connected 99.9% of the time without issues.
If you are using Charles Schwab, you must reconnect every 7 days to maintain access (this is a rule from Charles Schwab, not the Options Auto Trader).
If your broker appears in the drop-down list, it is connected.
If your dashboard loads normally, your broker is actively connected.
If a red banner appears on the dashboard, reconnect your broker following Step 4.
Following these steps ensures that your broker remains connected to the Options Auto Trader without interruption.
