If your TastyTrade account is marked as "Set To Closing Only," it means that TastyTrade has detected a login that seems suspicious. This restriction prevents new trades from being opened until the issue is resolved. This article explains why this happens, how to remove the restriction, and how it affects your Options Auto Trader.
TastyTrade places an account in "Closing Only" mode when they detect a suspicious login attempt. This is a security measure to prevent unauthorized access in case someone else has accessed your account.
When this happens:
You will receive an email from TastyTrade asking you to confirm if the login was legitimate.
Until you verify the login, you will only be able to close existing trades—you won’t be able to open new trades.
Look for an email from TastyTrade about a suspicious login attempt.
Open the email and follow the instructions to confirm whether it was you.
Click "Accept" or the equivalent confirmation link to remove the restriction.
If you confirm the login, the restriction should be lifted automatically, and you will be able to place trades again.
If you don’t see an email from TastyTrade, or if the restriction remains after confirming the login, you need to contact TastyTrade Support.

If your TastyTrade account is set to "Closing Only":
